Case study — our own · mobile
The island,
in your pocket.
ManxLife's native apps for iPhone and Android — the whole island platform, now living on the home screen. Discover what's on, see it on the live map, save it for later, and check the ferry at the breakfast table. Designed, built and shipped by Stabit — live on the App Store and Google Play in the same launch week.

The brief
The web finds them. The app keeps them.
manxlife.im put ManxLife on the map — but island life happens on the move: on the walk to the harbour, in the queue for the ferry, at the school gate deciding what to do with the kids this weekend.
So the platform went native. Not a website in a wrapper — a proper app, with the things only an app can do: saved events that nudge you before kick-off, one-tap add to calendar, and the island's essentials a swipe from the home screen.
The whole thing runs off the same beating heart as the web — every event, venue and club, updated daily — so the apps launched full, not empty.
Gura mie eu.Manx — “thank you, all of you”. To everyone who downloaded in week one.

The approach
Three moves
that mattered.
One platform, every pocket
The apps aren't a separate product — they draw on the same living platform as the web. Same events, same design system, same content kept fresh daily. Build a feature once and it lands on the site and both apps; open the app for the first time and it's already full. That's why two stores in one launch week was possible at all — and it even runs on Mac and Apple Vision Pro.
Built for island life
A visitor app tells you where the castle is. This one tells you whether the ferry's running. Live sailing, bus and airport status; the weather; the Sunday pharmacy rota; emergency numbers that work offline, even halfway up the Mountain Road; kids' clubs and wraparound care, searchable; saved events with gentle reminders that drop straight into your calendar. And the live map — 216 locations and counting, clustered across the island.
Shipped to both stores, properly
Store listings, screenshots, privacy labels, review guidelines — the unglamorous last mile most projects stall on. Our automated release pipeline carries a fix from our hands to both stores without ceremony. Approved and live on the App Store and Google Play in launch week — and the first ratings came back five stars.
Where it stands
Week one, both stores.
Brand new and proudly so — here's what launched, straight from the store listings and the live platform.
Store figures, late August 2026 — a week after launch, and proudly early days.
The web made ManxLife findable. The app makes it part of the day — the ferry check at breakfast, the “what's on tonight”, the saved gig that pings you at seven. Same island, closer to hand.
